Following the interview, investigators determined that the person of interest, identified as 39-year-old Adam Rosenthal of Gainesville, Florida, is connected to Knight’s death.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee told WGXA that Rosenthal previously ran as a mayoral candidate in Gainesville, Florida. According to the Alachua Board of Elections Office, Rosenthal ran against eight other candidates and received less than 2% of the vote, WGXA reports. Additionally, Rosenthal received no monetary contributions during his campaign, according to WGXA.

On December 4, arrest warrants were obtained for Rosenthal for Knight’s murder.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is holding Rosenthal on a new murder charge, which is not related to Knight’s killing.
