Former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is reportedly eyeing playoff contenders as a potential next team

Former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones Waivers are expected to be granted Monday afternoon, and a handful of teams, including some playoff contenders, could be in line for the 27-year-old’s services.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings are “two of the most likely teams” to add Jones, who wants to sign with a playoff contender. Schefter adds that Week 12 results could influence Jones’ decision.

Meanwhile, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the San Francisco 49ers, with Brock Purdy dealing with a shoulder injury “could make a lot of sense and could be very real,” while the Las Vegas Raiders “would like Jones as an organization.”

Jones, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 draft, was released by the Giants on Friday after previously being demoted, apparently to the fourth string, with the Giants not planning to play him due to his $23 million injury guarantee.

Jones asked for and was granted his release, ending a tumultuous run as the Giants’ starting quarterback. In 69 starts, Jones had a record of 24-44-1 with 14,582 yards, 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. The Giants made the playoffs just once during Jones’ tenure, and he helped them to a road victory over the Minnesota Vikings before falling to Philadelphia in the 2022 Divisional Round.

The Giants will start Tommy DeVito at quarterback on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Drew Slot serve as a backup, and Tim Boyle likely as the emergency third quarterback.
