Someone is on the way.
The Detroit Red Wings won impressively last night. They defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in overtime. Patrick Kane played the hero with his ninth goal of the season.
Elsewhere, a former Red Wings player stands on the outside looking in. After being traded to the Seattle Kraken earlier this season, Daniel Sprong has found himself on waivers.
Sprong originally signed a one-year, $975,000 contract with the Vancouver Canucks over the summer. However, he only played nine games for them when he was traded to the Kraken for future considerations.
Jump (SEA) about exemptions

Things haven’t gone better for the depth winger with the Kraken. He played 10 games for the team, recording two points and averaging 12:22 of ice time per game.
The last time Sprong played was before New Year’s. He recorded one assist in a Kraken win over the Canucks. He played 10:12 in the game.
Sprong was put to good use while playing for the Red Wings. From a points perspective, he had his second most productive season. In 76 games, he scored 43 points and averaged 12 minutes per game.
The previous year was his career best. Sprong scored 46 points in 66 games. Ironically, he did this with the Kraken.
It is reasonable to expect that Sprong will not obtain the exemptions. He has an affordable contract and can produce in a bottom-six role.
The question is: which team will face him? Should it be the Red Wings?
