Former Buffalo Sabers forward Alex Nylander has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 26-year-old Nylander signed a contract for the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Toronto Marlies in the off-season. He hoped this would eventually lead to an NHL deal with the Maple Leafs during the season, and now he’s gotten just that. This means he can now play on the same team as his brother, William Nylander.

Nylander has started the season strong with the Marlies, with eight goals and twelve points in fourteen games.
Nylander was selected by the Sabers with the eighth overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. In 19 games over three seasons as a Sabre, Nylander had three goals, six points and a minus-9 rating.
