Foundation provides grants to area libraries

November 20 – Some local groups will benefit from grants from a regional foundation.

The Community Foundation for South Central New York announced Wednesday that it has awarded $160,985 to 18 local organizations through the Community Fund and Library Fund.

Local groups receiving funding include the Edmeston Free Library, the New Berlin Historical Museum and Library, the Roxbury Library Association, the Franklin Free Library and the Village of Cooperstown Library. “We are pleased to announce these recipients, chosen from a highly competitive group of applicants who demonstrate inspiring visions and community-oriented goals,” said Program Officer Stacy Mastrogiacomo.

According to a press release from the foundation, funds will be used to support and expand programming, including a school supply giveaway for children living in hotels, leadership training, new furniture and technology, improving youth health and wellness activities, supplying recycled materials for arts and crafts at low cost, and combating homelessness. “These awards will provide essential support for a wide range of projects, from educational resources and leadership development to critical infrastructure and program expansions,” said Mastrogiacomo. “Each grant reflects our commitment to strengthening local organizations, increasing their impact and improving the well-being of residents in our communities.”
