Dec. 21—JAMESTOWN — Four people were recently convicted of felony charges in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.
Sydney Marie Dockter, 26, New Rockford, North Dakota, pleaded guilty to child abuse victim under 6 years of age, a Class B felony, and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Endangering a Child, Class C felonies.
Dockter was charged with being a parent, adult relative, guardian or other custodian of a child and inflicting or causing mental or physical harm, substantial bodily harm, or grievous bodily harm to a child who was under 6 years of age state that this was inflicted on July 8, causing a child to be exposed to, ingested or inhaled or come into contact with methamphetamine and/or methamphetamine paraphernalia, on July 12, and; possession of one or more pipes and/or smoking devices in which methamphetamine was used on July 11 and 12 with a previous conviction in 2020.
Judge Troy LeFevre sentenced Dockter to 18 months in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for 12 days served. LeFevre placed Dockter on two years of supervised probation and ordered her to pay $35 indigent defense fees, $300 indigent fees and a $25 victim-witness fee.
A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Ashton Elisha Newman, 19, Jamestown, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a class C misdemeanor, and criminal mischief and domestic violence – bodily harm, class B misdemeanors.
Newman was accused of hitting a person in the head on August 20 and causing bodily harm to a family or household member and tampering with property of another on July 16.
Judge James Shockman sentenced Newman to 180 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 112 days served. Shockman placed Newman on two years of supervised probation. Newman was ordered not to own or possess any firearms, to have no contact with certain individuals and to complete a domestic violence evaluation and recommend treatment. Shockman also ordered Newman to pay a $525 criminal administrative fee, $200 defense/facility administrative fee, $70 for indigent defense application, $300 for indigent fees and $50 for victim-witness fees.
A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by 30 days in jail and a $1,500 fine.
Christopher Houston Perman, 34, Jamestown, pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender, a class C misdemeanor.
Perman was accused of being a person required to register as a sex offender and failing to file a change of address with the local law enforcement agency within three days.
Shockman sentenced Perman to nine months in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 25 days served. Shockman placed Perman on 18 months of supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $400 criminal administrative fee, a $100 defense/facility administrative fee and a $25 victim-witness fee.
Torre Louis Allan Risberg, 30, Jamestown, pleaded guilty to prohibited acts A/controlled substances, a class C misdemeanor.
Risberg was charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver marijuana on March 19.
Shockman sentenced Risberg to three years in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with three years suspended. Shockman placed Risberg on 12 months of supervised probation and ordered him to be fingerprinted and complete 24 hours of community service by December 21. Risberg was also ordered to pay a $25 supervision fee, $400 criminal administrative fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee and a $25 victim-witness fee.
