Sept. 28—JAMESTOWN — Four people were recently sentenced on felony charges in Southeast District Court in Jamestown.
Cassie Ann Hatch, 40, Jud, North Dakota, pleaded guilty to exploitation of a vulnerable adult, a class B misdemeanor.
Hatch was accused of taking and/or unlawfully retaining money, funds or property belonging to an individual with an aggregate value of more than $10,000 but less than $50,000 between September 1, 2021 and September 30, 2023.
Judge Troy LeFevre sentenced Hatch to 18 months in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. LeFevre placed Hatch on three years of supervised probation and ordered her to have no contact with a specific individual. LeFevre also ordered Hatch to pay a criminal administrative fee of $650, a $100 defense/facility administrative fee, a $35 indigent defense application fee, $300 indigent defense, restitution of $34,542 and a victim-witness fee of $25.
A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Brandyn Michael Burt, 29, Jamestown, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, a class C felony.
Burt was charged on August 19 with possession of pipes and/or cotton swabs containing methamphetamine, with previous convictions in 2021 and 2023.
Judge James Shockman sentenced Burt to 31 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 31 days served. Shockman placed Burt on 18 months of supervised probation and ordered him to attend, participate in and successfully complete Drug Court. Shockman also ordered Burt to pay a $400 criminal administrative fee, a $100 defense/facility administrative fee, $35 for the indigent defense application, $300 for indigent fees, and a $25 victim-witness fee .
A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Jordan Aaron Smith, 28, Jamestown, pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender, a class C misdemeanor.
Smith was charged with being a person required to register as a sex offender, being homeless and failing to register with the sheriff or chief of police for the jurisdiction every three days from August 13 to 27.
Shockman sentenced Smith to 90 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for 22 days served. Shockman placed Smith on one year of supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $400 criminal administrative fee, a $100 defense/facility administrative fee and a $25 victim-witness fee.
Zane Tristin Koppang, 25, Cleveland, North Dakota, pleaded guilty to burglary, a class C misdemeanor, and contributing to the delinquency of minor and unlawful delivery to certain persons, class A misdemeanor.
Koppang was accused of entering a home without permission on August 5, 2023, with the intent to take a lawn mower, snow blower, 100 chipboards and a 25-inch TV and to provide alcohol and/or a place to drink. to two persons who were under 18 years of age and drank alcohol and supplied alcoholic beverages to the two persons who were under 21 years of age.
Shockman sentenced Koppang to 10 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with nine days suspended and one day served. Shockman placed Koppang on 12 months of supervised probation and ordered him not to own or possess any firearms for 360 days and not to consume, possess or purchase alcohol for 360 days. Shockman also ordered Koppang to have no minors in his home or residence and to pay $400 criminal administrative fee, $100 defense/facility administrative fee, $70 indigent defense application fee, $300 indigent restitution, $1,000 restitution, $500 fine/ state and a $50 victim surcharge. -witness costs. The $1,000 refund is joint with one other person.
A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by 360 days in jail and a $3,000 fine.
