Fourth arrest after gunfire on school bus during drug deal

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested and charged two more suspects in connection with a shooting outside a school bus that nearly struck the 33 students and a driver on board.

CMPD: Second arrest in school bus shooting

Gunfire from a drug deal struck the Albemarle Road Middle School bus along the 8820 block of East WT Harris Boulevard on Monday, CMPD said.

No one was closed, but two students were struck by broken glass. The injuries were minor.

On Thursday, police arrested 23-year-old Jaheim Savion Boone and on Friday, 21-year-old Joshua Woods.

They said Boone had a Glock 45 handgun and tried to shoot and kill three people who were in a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and Chevy Express. That was when bullets flew through the windows of the school bus.

He was arrested after a brief foot chase, CMPD said.

He was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, nine counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle, possession with intent to manufacture and sell cocaine, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting, delaying, obstructing a public servant.

This is his ninth arrest since 2022, with many felony charges.

Boone is currently in jail with no bond set.

Woods was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of conspiracy.

Lamarious Ramel Anthony, 21, and Paris Lewis Bynum were arrested earlier this week.

Anthony was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with a concealed weapon.

Bynum has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is also in custody.

New charges were filed against Bynum on Friday.

Hours before the shooting Monday, he broke into a State Highway Patrol vehicle in Ballantyne and stole a rifle from it.

Bynum is now facing charges including burglary of a law enforcement vehicle and three other felonies. He remains in jail Friday.
