TITUSVILLE – Brevard County health officials say they are monitoring cases of rabies among wildlife in and around a Titusville country club after a rabid fox was found there.
The Brevard Florida Department of Health has issued a rabies alert in response to the only confirmed case of rabies involving the fox, which was found near La Cita Country Club. The sick animal was located near La Cita Lane on November 18.
“All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies may currently be present in the wildlife population,” the agency said in a statement.
The health department also warned residents to keep an eye on their pets and ensure they do not interact with wildlife, including raccoons, bats, foxes, bobcats and others that also live in Florida’s brush.
Residents can also call Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control at 321-633-2024 to report any stray wildlife.
