First Alert Forecast: Temperatures will drop in New York on Saturday night – 10/26/24

03:09

Despite a gusty wind, Saturday was a beautiful late October day with lots of sun and relatively mild temperatures.

These gusts will continue into the overnight hours, adding an extra pinch to the air. Actual low temperatures will be on the cold side, with many temperatures in the low 30s and even around 20 degrees in the suburbs, while the city will dip into the low to mid 40s.

Sunday forecast

A frost advice will be in effect Sunday from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. in Orange and Putnam counties in New York, Passaic County in New Jersey and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

Another clear, albeit cooler, day is planned for Sunday, with highs only in the mid-50s. The viewing conditions are perfect for those who also want to see the fall colors.

Winds are not expected to be as high as on Saturday, but just high enough to lead to an increased fire risk across the region, especially when combined with the parched ground. We now rank fifth for most consecutive days without measurable rain in Central Park at 26.
