Fresno police arrested one of the department’s own sergeants on Wednesday after he was accused of attempting to indecently assault a child.
Sergeant Paige McQuay, 56, was taken into custody in Fresno after Roseville police said he was the subject of a sex crime investigation, a news release said.
He was accused of committing indecent acts with a minor and having contact with a minor to commit a criminal offense, police said in a news release.
According to Fresno police, McQuay has been with the department since 1993.
He has been placed on paid leave pending the investigation, police said.
“This criminal investigation was initiated and conducted by the Roseville Police Department and the Fresno Police Department is fully cooperating with them,” police said in a news release.
