Many people flying out of Logan Airport this weekend had to reschedule their flights after Friday’s snowstorm.
“I’m very upset, I hope I can go today,” said Rosa Dasilva.
The Dasilvas are trying to get to Colorado to see their children and grandchildren for Christmas, but their flight was canceled Saturday.
“Jet Blue stated that there were no pilots due to the storm, the snowstorm, but mind you, the ground was clear,” Dalton Dasilva said.
“And it’s not just me, it was a lot of people who stood in line for almost three hours for everyone and some people who wouldn’t be there for Christmas offered me to go there on Christmas Eve,” said Rosa Dasilva.
So they decided to book a whole new flight to leave on Sunday.
“Now we ended up buying another ticket for today and paying $2,700, almost $2,800, preferably just one way, so I could come with my sons,” Dalton Dasilva said.
Massport says Friday’s storm brought more snow than expected, causing many delays and cancellations.
A spokesperson says 188 flights were canceled at Logan Airport on Friday on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
Maddi Gonte was on one of those delayed flights to Michigan.
“It kept getting postponed and then we boarded around 11:30 or 12 noon and then it stayed at the gate for another hour and a half,” Gonte said.
“They had to defrost for an hour and a half, and you would hope that somehow they could do that in advance or coordinate it better, but the weather, it’s those mechanical things, I think they’re frustrating for people,” said Michael Pogoda.
Flights ran more smoothly on Sunday, while the airport was still full.
Many travelers hope to reach their destination before Christmas.
“I feel like it’s a stereotype of the holidays that this is exactly what happens,” Pogoda said.
MASSPORT says anyone traveling this holiday season should be patient and always check with your airlines about any delays or changes to your flight.
