Major food, beverage and retail changes should come to Boise Airport later this year.
And some of them go, well, stone.
If the Boise City Council approves contracts as expected, travelers will discover an almost entirely new lineup – one that reflects the growing, evolving Boise. “All current food, beverage and retail options offered at the airport will transition to new concepts or be updated,” according to a Boise Airport news release.
Airport concessions Delaware North, which processes food, and Paradies Lagardere, which operates retail, will submit new contracts to the council later this month.
The entertainment renovation ranges from welcoming Starbucks to the airport to unveiling a new Treefort Music Fest-branded restaurant and bar. (Additional details were not immediately available from Treefort organizers about the meeting location, but a rendering showed a musician live.)
Other newcomers include Protein Bar & Kitchen, Pizza Hut and Wendy’s, along with local brands Flying M Coffee, The STIL ice cream shop, Waffle Me Up, Blue Sky Bagels, Form + Function, Turas Lights and Bites by Telaya Wine Co. Bardenay , a local cocktail favorite already at the airport, will remain but is being “reimagined,” according to the release.
Local concepts “will also extend to retail,” the release said, “including regional beer and wine, Idaho Candy Company, Buy Idaho products and many more local artisans and products. Store themes will pay tribute to signature Idaho staples such as the Capital City Market, the Boise Depot and the Sawtooth Mountains to reflect and connect with our region.”
The new operators – chosen following a public tender process for proposals – would be part of new ten-year agreements.
Travelers will also find modern upgrades such as mobile dining and QR code food ordering (in addition to traditional face-to-face transactions), self-service kiosks and digital wallet payments.
If the Boise City Council approves the contracts, construction on new dining and retail options could begin as soon as October, the release said. It would be implemented in phases to ensure concessions are consistently available throughout the changes. Once completed, more square footage at the airport will be allocated to food and beverage outlets.
According to the release, an open house is planned this summer “to showcase new options to the public, including additional spaces in the food court and a new 4,000-square-foot wine bar and small bites café in Concourse C.”
The Boise Airport served more than 4.75 million passengers in 2023.
