GA man sentenced to five years in prison for terroristic threats after two-day trial

A man from Waleska, Georgia, was sentenced to five years in prison on June 21 for terroristic threats and acts.

Christopher Dean Bowling, 29, has been under investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office since July 2023, after officers responded to a domestic violence report but were disconnected from 911 from a home in Waleska.

The victim told officers she called 911 because Bowling wouldn’t let her pack her things to leave. She provided deputies with a four-minute audio recording of a previous altercation in which she said Bowling choked her while a child was present.

When officers listened to the recording, Bowling could be heard threatening the victim with profanity and murder/suicide. There was also a period of silence on the recording for about 30 seconds.

According to the victim, the 30 seconds of silence were the result of Bowling choking her in the presence of a child.
