Regional gas prices fell for the second straight week, hitting an average of $3.21 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That’s down from last week’s price of $3.32 per gallon.
The average price of gas in the Midwest region has fallen about 27 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices in the region over the past year have been as low as $2.77 on Jan. 8, 2024, and as high as $3.77 on Aug. 14, 2023.
A year ago, the average price of gasoline in the Midwest region was 12% higher, at $3.64 per gallon.

The average gas price in the United States was $3.31 last week, making prices in the Midwest region about 3.2 percent lower than the national average. The national average gas price is down from last week’s average of $3.38 per gallon.
The prices in the Midwestern states are found in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
