Britain’s Hannah Cockroft won her ninth Paralympic gold medal by completing a British double in the T34 800m final at Paris 2024.

Cockroft was dominant, finishing ahead of teammate Kare Adenegan, just as she did in the 100m final on Sunday, to win her second title in Paris.

Cockroft has won gold in the 100 and 800 metres at every Paralympic Games since London 2012 and won the 400 metres at Rio 2016.

She finished in a time of one minute and 55.44 seconds, almost eight seconds faster than silver medallist Adenegan. American Eva Houston prevented the Britons from taking the podium by beating Fabienne Andre in the sprint to take bronze.

The 31-year-old established her reputation as one of the greatest para-athletes of all time.

With 16 world titles and the world record in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m in her discipline, she was the big favorite in the Stade de France.

She had a great start in lane eight, quickly built up a big lead and rode to the finish via a time trial.

More to come.
