The Savannah Ghost Pirates added some depth to their defense this week with the signing of defensemen Pito Walton and CJ McGee to ECHL contracts through the 2024-25 season.
Walton played for the Ghost Pirates for a while last April, after making his professional debut with the Florida Everblades on March 29.
The 24-year-old native of Peapack, N.J., played four games for Savannah and scored his first career point on April 5 at South Carolina against the Stingrays.
Walton played five seasons of college hockey and completed his graduate season at Northeastern University. He appeared in 36 games for the Huskies in 2023-24, scoring five goals and adding 12 assists for 17 points.
From 2019-23, the 6-foot-2, 192-pound defenseman played for Princeton University and was the school’s alternate captain during his senior year. In 124 total collegiate games, Walton produced 55 points (17-38-55).

McGee, 25, signed an amateur tryout (ATO) with the Ghost Pirates in mid-April, appearing in two road games in Jacksonville and Greenville.
Like Walton, McGee played five seasons in the NCAA, playing 159 games for Quinnipiac University. He won a national championship with the Bobcats in 2022-23.
Originally from Pearl River, New York, McGee scored eight goals and had 17 assists for 25 points in college.
