Stillwater Harvest Fest organizers have found the perfect recipe for a successful fall festival: giant pumpkins, giant pumpkins and, yes, more giant pumpkins.
“Giant pumpkins make people smile,” said Cassie McLemore, event coordinator. “These are great times. It’s all for fun, and fun for everyone.”
The 19th annual Stillwater Harvest Fest, this weekend at Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater, will feature a giant pumpkin weigh-in, a giant pumpkin regatta, with participants paddling hollowed out gourds down the St. Croix River, and a giant pumpkin drop of a 100 foot tap.
This summer’s rainy weather and a few hailstorms mean the chances of another world record being set at Stillwater Harvest Fest are slim, but there will still be several giant pumpkins weighing more than 2,000 pounds, said McLemore, who works for Summer Tuesday works. Inc., the organization that hosts Harvest Fest, Summer Tuesdays and Best Wings in the Valley.
Also available for Stillwater Harvest Fest: a children’s costume parade, a variety of local food vendors, and performances by Joe Flip, Jacuzzi Puma, Jennifer Grimm & Free and Easy.
Free shuttle service is offered from Stillwater Middle School, Cub headquarters and Pioneer Park.
The Stillwater Harvest Fest takes place from 10am to 8:30pm on Saturday, October 12 and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday, October 13 at Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater. Admission is free.
