MINNEAPOLIS—The woman federally accused of buying her boyfriend guns used in the fatal shootings of three first responders in Burnsville will plead guilty.

Ashley Dyrdahl was charged in March for allegedly purchasing the weapons used in the fatal shootings of Burnsville police officers Matthew Ruge and Paul Elmstrand and firefighter EMT Adam Finseth in February. She initially pleaded not guilty to the eleven charges filed against her.

The indictment alleges that Dyrdahl purchased five guns for Gooden between September 2023 and January 2024, including two AR-15-style weapons used during the standoff. Authorities responded to a domestic violence call on February 18 Good guys opened fire.

At a press conference adjourned at the time of the indictment, U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said, “That he couldn’t buy firearms because he was a convicted felon. So instead he would pick out specific guns and she would buy them in violation of federal law.” – placing powerful weapons in the hands of a violent, convicted criminal.”

Governor Walz signed on to one law harsher penalties for the purchase of straw guns. The law came into effect on August 1.

WCCO has learned that Dyrdahl plans to change her plea in court on December 18.
