Giuliani suspended in New York after court ruled he repeatedly lied about Trump’s 2020 election loss

NEW YORK (AP) — Rudolph Giuliani, former New York City mayor, federal prosecutor and legal adviser to Donald Trump, was disbarred from office by the state on Tuesday after a court ruled that he repeatedly made false statements about Donald Trump’s 2020 election defeat.

The ruling was made by an appeals court in Manhattan, New York.

The court ruled that Giuliani “be immediately and until further order of this Court suspended from the practice of law, and his name be struck from the rolls of attorneys and counsel in the State of New York.”

Giuliani’s spokesman did not immediately respond to an email and phone call seeking comment Tuesday.

Giuliani’s license to practice law in New York has already been revoked due to false statements he made after the election.

He was the main spokesperson for Trump’s false claims of voter fraud after the 2020 election. He stood at a news conference outside Four Seasons Total Landscaping outside Philadelphia on the day the race was called for Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Trump, saying they would stand up to what he called a vast conspiracy by Democrats.
