Golden Retriever Owners From Across the State Gather in Ligonier for Furry Festivities

On Saturday, Golden Retriever owners and enthusiasts gathered in Ligonier for a special celebration.

The Golden Gathering at Paws on Main was held on West Main Street in Ligonier.

Every year people bring their golden retrievers to the party to spend time together and have fun with their dogs. Saturday was the fifth time the event was held.

“It just keeps growing and growing and growing, so this is a time to meet and greet each other,” said organizer Angel Tunstall.

Visitors were asked to bring donations of new or used animal-friendly items.

The festivities included a parade, paw print art and a photo opportunity.

Dogs from all over the state attended the event, with one visitor driving more than six hours from New York to attend, according to organizers.

“We love Golden Retrievers,” said organizer April Kinzler. “They’re such a friendly, wonderful dog. They’re great dogs to have. They’re obedient, sweet, well-behaved, and we love having them at Paws on Main every year.”

Employees from Abigail’s Coffeehouse, a nearby business, helped hand out treats.

According to the organizers, 63 dogs attended the event. They hope to hold it again next year.
