Goshen Airport FBO Sold to Sweet Aviation

Sept. 2 – GOSHEN – Effective Tuesday, Sweet Aviation will take over as fixed base operator of Goshen Air Center and become owner of Aircraft Charter Services at Goshen Municipal Airport.

Sweet Aviation is part of Surack Enterprises Co., owned by founder Chuck Surack.

“I am so grateful to welcome Goshen Municipal Airport to the Sweet Aviation family,” Surack said in a press release. “Goshen Air Center is a tremendous success story with a solid foundation.”

In addition to Sweet Aviation, Surack Enterprises owns other aviation-related businesses including Sweet Helicopters, Aviation Specialty Insurance and Enstrom Helicopter Corp. Sweet Helicopters has operated out of Goshen Airport since 2017. The press release states that Surack purchased a corporate aircraft hangar for Sweet Helicopters to better serve charter customers traveling to Notre Dame University and the Chicagoland area.

Goshen is the fourth airport that Sweet Aviation serves. They also offer various services and amenities at Fort Wayne International Airport, Smith Field Airport and DeKalb County Airport.

Airport Manager Randy Sharkey, co-founder of the former FBO, Goshen Air Center, will “continue to play a role in the future of the airport,” the release said. Sharkey is employed by the city of Goshen in his role as airport manager.

And Surack added a thank you to the current owner: “I would like to personally thank John Hull for running a great company with so many great employees over many years.”

The airport will have new signage, extended passenger terminal opening hours from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, and some customer service improvements will be made.

Customers “will continue to receive the same world-class fuel and maintenance services,” the press release said.

Surack wrote in a letter to customers: “For charter customers, in addition to our current fleet of twin-engine jets, you will have access to Sweet Aviation’s state-of-the-art aircraft, including our family of Cirrus Vision Jets, Pilatus PC-12s and Cirrus SR22 GTS. These services are delivered by the same great employees you already know and trust. My goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible so you, the customer, can remain focused on your next mission.”

Joel Pierce, Sweet Aviation’s CEO, said, “We are excited to focus on adding value to the people of Goshen through attractive aviation careers, community involvement and world-class customer service.”

According to the city of Goshen, Goshen Municipal is the seventh busiest airport in the state of Indiana.
