Nov. 1 – A semi and a truck collided near Ind. Friday at 1:22 p.m. 15 and CR 112, injuring a Goshen man.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office report, a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jimmy F. Bryant, 60, Goshen, was traveling north on Ind. 15. While making a turn, the truck went left of center and crashed directly into the highway. rear of a 2022 Freightliner semi operating in Ind. 15 headed south.
Bryant had pain in his head, neck and left leg. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the semi, Luis Diaz Barajas, 58, of Goshen, was uninjured.
ARRESTS
– A 26-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies Wednesday at 11:41 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle while intoxicated after being stopped by police for using his cell phone and held while driving. US 20 east of US 33 in Goshen.
– A 34-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies Thursday at 9:15 p.m. on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession and meth and paraphernalia after he was stopped at Prairie Street and Waterfall Drive in Elkhart for registration violations .
DEATH INVESTIGATION
The Goshen Fire Department and Goshen Police Department were called to 200 Winchester Trails at 9:16 a.m. Thursday for an unconscious 3-month-old child who was not breathing. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced deceased.
SEX CRIME
– The Indiana Department of Child Services forwarded a report of a child in need of assistance to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
– A child in need of assistance was reported to Elkhart County deputies Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.
HIT-AND-RUN
-Goshen Police were called to Elkhart Road and Peddler’s Village Road at 10:26 a.m. Thursday for a two-vehicle crash where one driver took off without exchanging information.
—Mackynzie Graber, 23, of Goshen, at 3:24 p.m. Thursday reported to Goshen police an accident at Dollar Tree, 2357 Lincolnway East.
CRIMINAL ILLEGAL
– A 24-year-old man reported vandalism at Ross Dress for Less/Burlington to Goshen police Thursday at 8:26 p.m.
– Goshen police were called to 7-Eleven, 1000 S. Main St., at 9:40 p.m. Thursday for a woman who allegedly damaged the gas station’s entrance door.
– A 23-year-old woman reported damage to her husband’s vehicle in the 600 block of South Eighth Street to Goshen police at 4:51 a.m. Friday.
THEFT
—Aegis Dental Group, 3560 Elkhart Road, reported a theft and check fraud dated Nov. 8, 2022 to Goshen police at 12:24 a.m. Thursday.
– A 47-year-old man reported to Goshen police Thursday at 1:24 p.m. that someone he knew took off with his vehicle in the 900 block of Eagle Drive.
– A Forest River employee reported to Elkhart County deputies at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday the theft of hubcaps from vehicles at the storage yard at 55135 CR 1 in Elkhart.
– A 66-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between 8 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2023 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 17, someone stole one of the Pinnacle’s flatbed trucks at 13928 CR 4 in Bristol.
– A 38-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that someone stole his temporary license plate from his vehicle in the 1600 block of Toledo Road between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
FRAUD
An employee of Legacy Fence and Decks, 65671 Ind. 15, Goshen, reported to Goshen police that someone committed fraud between 4:29 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 3 p.m. on Oct. 17.
OFFICER’S REPORT
A woman reported to Elkhart County deputies on Oct. 29 that a small, red children’s bicycle had been left in front of her home.
