A young Philadelphia-born gospel singer is using his platform to gain votes.

AJ Evans is no stranger to CBS Philadelphia. We met him after he released his first album “Not Too Young” as a high school student in 2022.

He was subsequently nominated for a Stellar Gospel Music Award in the category ‘Youth Project of the Year’.

Now he drops a new song titled ‘Get Up, Go Vote’.

Evans is a sophomore at historically Black Howard University in Washington.

As a new voter, AJ uses his gifts through his song.

“I didn’t hear anyone doing anything around voting,” Evans said.

The young singer and songwriter is now focusing on community involvement as we are just weeks away from the 2024 presidential election.

“I wanted to look back at a time when we couldn’t vote and when our voices weren’t heard and when we now had the right to vote and break barriers,” Evans said.

“Get Up, Go Vote” is available on all streaming platforms.

Vice President Kamala Harris is a proud Howard graduate and next week she is expected to appear at the school’s homecoming.
