HILLSDALE – Early donations have already started for Hillsdale’s biggest giving day.
Officially held on December 3, the Great Give has become an important part of the community, bringing everyone together to donate to a wide range of local nonprofits.
This annual event, held on the national day of ‘Giving Tuesday’, is celebrating its tenth year. Over the years, it has become Hillsdale County’s largest giving day.
This year, the Great Give will be held at the HUB Activity Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The HUB is located at 1300 South Hillsdale Road.
The Hillsdale County Community Foundation (HCCF) will sponsor the Great Give for another year, bringing together 19 local agencies. That’s the largest number of agencies to ever participate in Hillsdale’s Great Give.
“Each agency will have a dedicated table with representatives sharing information about their mission and the resources they provide to the citizens of Hillsdale County,” said Melinda Eggleston, program director for the Hillsdale County Community Foundation. “HCCF staff and board members will be on hand to collect donations and coordinate with agencies, with additional funds coming from a bonus pool awarded to agencies during the Great Give.”
Eggleston said she is excited to see the community come out to the event.
“My favorite part of the Great Give event is seeing our community come together to show support for local organizations, each committed to meeting the unique needs of Hillsdale County and making a lasting impact on the lives of our neighbors,” Eggleston said.
In 2023, more than $200,000 was raised for local organizations.
Eggleston said it’s a great way for the community to give back during the holidays.
“The Great Give promotes community involvement and supports Hillsdale’s nonprofits during this season of giving,” she said. “The Foundation invites the community to join us, meet the agencies making a difference locally, and help us achieve our shared goal of strengthening Hillsdale County for all.”
There are many ways to participate in the Big Give, both on the day of the donation and early in the day.
“There will be drive-through and drop-off options for donors at the HUB Activity Center Building,” Eggleston said. “Donors can also donate online until midnight.”
