Greenville man arrested after shooting Friday morning

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a death investigation.

According to GCSO Deputy Jeremy Holt, officers arrested 31-year-old Austin Lee Kellam on Friday after the 1:30 a.m. shooting of 35-year-old William Travis Madden. Kellam was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Greenville County Communications received a call at 1:30 a.m. Friday reporting a gunshot wound with at least one wound at 112 Aklavik Court. Responding officers found Madden dead from a gunshot wound. The Greenville County coroner determined his time of death as 1:30 a.m

Holt said GCSO investigators determined that Madden was shot during an altercation with Kellam, but were still trying to determine whether the men knew each other before the shooting.

Kellam’s bail hearing was scheduled for Friday.
