MINNEAPOLIS— A ground slowdown has been ordered at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Thursday morning in the midst of a winter storm.
The FAA has issued a ground stop at the airport from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. due to snow and ice. A spokesperson for MSP Airport says a ground delay will now be in effect until approximately 10am
The spokesperson said the interruption was related to the amount of snowfall. The spokesperson also says there will be a residual impact as flights arrive and depart, but says delays are minimal, partly due to the early time at which the disruption occurred.
According to FlightAware, there have been a total of ten delays at the airport as of 8 a.m., including one cancellation.

Meanwhile, a NEXT Drive Alert has been issued for the morning drive due to hazardous road conditions caused by the snowstorm.
The Twin Cities can expect an accumulation of about 4 inches, with many in the I-94 corridor in the 4-6 inch range. Snow figures will be heavy at times, but will taper off after the afternoon and eventually overnight.
Dozens of Minnesota school districts are reporting closures and delays.
