JOLIET, Illinois (CBS) —A decomposed body was found Tuesday evening in a flooded US Steel pumping station in Joliet.

At approximately 6:47 p.m., Joliet police and firefighters responded to the residence at 941 Collins Street after three men and a woman found the body while canvassing the scene.

Upon entering the flooded pump house, officers found the body of a dead man in approximately 4-5 feet of water. Police said the body was in the “advanced stages of decomposition.”

A US Steel representative confirmed that the building is an old one that has been closed for a long time.
