A Democratic Party campaign office was targeted by gunfire in Tempe. No one was injured.
It’s unclear when the incident occurred; a party spokesperson said on Sept. 23 that it happened “overnight.” Tempe police said gunfire damage was discovered at the party office near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive and that they are investigating the incident as a property crime.
According to police, the office was uninhabited at the time.
“Last night, multiple shots were fired at our coordinated campaign office in Tempe, the Democratic Party,” said Sean McEnerney, the coordinated campaign manager for the Democratic Party in Arizona. “We are grateful to the Tempe Police Department for their quick response and we are fortunate that no one was present or injured.”
The Mesa Forensic Unit also responded to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department.
Concerns about political violence are growing as Election Day approaches. Former President Donald Trump survived two assassination attempts, one in July and one earlier this month.
