Haason Reddick missed the Jets OTAs

When Jets passed on rusher Haason Reddick, he arrived in a trade with the Eagles in March, he said he would be happy either way of everything that happened with his contract. But without a new contract, Reddick has not attended any of the Jets’ organized team activities.

Reddick has not been present All offseason work was open to the media, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Reddick has not said his absence is contract-related, but there is speculation he wants a new deal. OTAs are voluntary, but most players attend.

When the Jets acquired Reddick, they acquired the final year of the three-year contract he signed with the Eagles in 2022. That contract calls for Reddick to be paid $15 million this season. None of that money is guaranteed, so Reddick certainly wouldn’t want to risk doing something that would cause the Jets to cut him, though that seems unlikely.

Reddick has shown he can make an immediate impact in any environment, with 12.5 sacks for the Cardinals in 2020, 11 sacks for the Panthers in 2021, 16 sacks for the Eagles in 2022 and 11 sacks on another Eagles defense in 2023. Jets hopes he can make such an impact again in a new environment in 2024.

The Jets’ mandatory minicamp begins June 11.
