Vice President Kamala Harris’ political operation raised more than $300 million in August, more than double what former President Donald Trump’s operation raised during the same period, two sources familiar with Harris’ fundraising figures told NBC News.
The sources did not provide exact fundraising figures, but the figure of more than $300 million, including the campaign and related agencies, indicates that the breakneck pace of fundraising has not slowed since the money poured in after President Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he would no longer seek the Democratic nomination.
The next deadline for Harris’ campaign finance disclosures is September 20.
The two sources also said there are plans to hold multiple fundraisers for Harris this month. One of the sources said that included possible events in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
NBC News has reached out to Harris’ campaign team for comment.
Harris’ campaign achieved major milestones in August, including electing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and holding a four-day, star-studded convention in Chicago.
After the convention, Harris’ campaign officials said they had raised more than $540 million since Harris took over as campaign leader.
Harris’ massive fundraising numbers come just after the Trump campaign and affiliated entities reported raising $130 million in August, with nearly $300 million in cash on hand. Trump’s campaign reported that 98% of donations that month were less than $200.
“These August fundraising numbers are a reflection of that movement and will propel President Trump’s America First movement back to the White House so we can undo the terrible failures of Harris and Biden,” said Brian Hughes, a senior adviser to Trump’s campaign.
