In Minneapolis, officials are calling for a snow emergency after heavy snowfall, putting special parking rules in place for three days. In St. Paul, parking is prohibited from 9 p.m. on the day of the snow crisis on streets marked as a “night shift route.” The following day, parking on day shift routes is not permitted.

Western Minnesota is under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday as the area prepares for continued snowfall and gusty winds that will reduce road visibility. Wednesday morning, the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 511 website reported slush and ice on the roads.

A wind advisory is in effect for southwestern Minnesota until 6 p.m. An additional half inch of snow could fall in the metro during the evening commute and gusty winds could occur. The snow is expected to end around 10 p.m., WCCO’s NEXT Weather meteorologists say.
