MINNEAPOLIS— Sunday is a NEXT Weather Alert day due to excessive heat and humidity in the Twin Cities.
The metro is under a heat advisory from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. as a warm front pushes temperatures into the 90s, with heat indices closer to 100. This will be our first dose of significant heat and humidity for the year.

The chance of storms increases again on Sunday night into Monday when a cold front tries to pass through, but it will retreat north as a warm front and will remain in the area on Tuesday and Wednesday. This means there will be daily storm chances throughout the week, although there will also be some dry spells.
The heat and humidity will also persist, with highs in the 80s through Tuesday.
As the week progresses it should become drier and more seasonal.
