The peak of the heat has passed, but the duration of this heat wave is likely to last into Monday in inland communities as coastal communities remain cloudy and cool. Those who experienced triple-digit heat on Wednesday will continue to do so on Thursday and above-average temperatures will continue.

An extreme heat warning has been extended until Monday evening for the Inland Empire.

It was 110 degrees in Lake Elsinore on Wednesday, breaking the record for the day of 106 set in 2012. San Jacinto broke the 105-degree heat record in 2020, with a high of 109 degrees on Wednesday. In Ramona Wednesday it was 104, which is the record for the day of 102 set in 2020.
An excessive heat warning is in effect Thursday in the desert communities of Coachella Valley and Riverside County, with highs expected to reach 114 degrees.
The National Weather Service’s extreme heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.
Dangerously warm conditions, with temperatures between 108 and 114 degrees, are forecast for La Quinta, Indio, Cathedral City, Borrego Springs, Coachella, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Palm Desert County.
Low temperatures in those areas will be in the mid 70s to late 90s. Heat advisories have been issued until Thursday at 8 p.m. for the Riverside County Valley communities of Moreno Valley, Corona, Rancho Cucamonga and Riverside, where temperatures are expected to be between 100 and 108 degrees. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Mountain communities can expect temperatures in the mid-80s to mid-90s through Thursday. The low will be somewhere between the mid-60s and mid-70s.
