Here’s how many absentee people have voted in Wayne and Holmes counties since Friday

On Tuesday, polling places in Wayne and Holmes counties will see lines of people waiting to cast their ballots, but while some are waiting their turn, others have already voted absentee.

Voters had requested 1,149,095 absentee ballots by mail as of Friday, according to Ohio’s secretary of state’s office. The number of returned ballots was 910,762. The number of in-person ballots cast was 1,295,491, bringing the total of early votes cast in the state to 2,206,253.

In Wayne County, there are 70,625 people registered to vote. Of those voters, 6,631 returned an absentee ballot by mail and 14,461 returned an early in-person ballot, for a total of 21,092 early voters on Friday.

In Holmes County, there are 18,086 people registered to vote. Of those voters, 1,566 returned an absentee ballot by mail and 3,742 returned an early in-person ballot, for a total of 5,308 early voters on Friday.

Brian Chisnell, poll worker for the Wayne County Board of Elections, greets voters lining up to cast their ballots early. Since Thursday, more than 22,000 votes have been cast in person or by mail in the county.

On election day, polling stations are open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Contact the Wayne County Board of Elections and the Holmes County Board of Elections to find out where your polling place is.
