MINNEAPOLIS — This weekend the popular summer meteor shower reaches its peak.
The Perseids, one of the best shows of the yearare already underway. The most dazzling part of the show, however, will take place on August 11 and 12.
The show will compete with the light of a waxing crescent moon, which doesn’t set until just before 11 p.m.
The best time to see the meteor shower is therefore after 11pm until sunrise on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Even on the moon, according to NASA, up to 100 meteors are visible every hour.
They say you can look in all directions, but they come from the northeastern sky, from the constellation Perseus.
According to the NEXT Weather forecast, it will be partly cloudy on Sunday evening with temperatures dropping to around 17 degrees in the evening.
Less cloud cover is expected on Monday evening.
The Perseids will remain visible through August 24.
