Mohammed Afif, the media spokesman for Hezbollah who was killed in an Israeli airstrike last weekend, was buried on Monday in the Lebanese coastal city of Sidon.
The time of the funeral was announced half an hour in advance and the ceremony was short, probably out of fear of further Israeli air strikes.
Afif came to prominence after the assassination of Hezbollah leadership in a series of Israeli attacks. He was one of the few publicly known faces of the Iranian-backed militia.
Afif was seen as close to Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated in late September. He headed the Shia militia’s media operations for years.
Afif was killed on Sunday in an Israeli airstrike near the center of Beirut.
