High E. coli levels detected at a state park lake

An advisory has been issued for an area lake after high levels of E. coli were detected.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, a bacteria contamination advisory has been issued for Action Lake at Hueston Woods State Park.

The advisory was issued on June 18 and remains active.

The Ohio EPA defines water suitable for recreation as unsafe for human contact when the number of E. coli colonies exceeds 298 per 100 ml of water.

The most recent sampling results of E. coli levels in Lake Action State are over 866 colony counts per 100 ml
