A hiker was rescued Tuesday morning after falling 80 feet down a steep hill on a trail in the Grass Valley area.
The incident occurred on the Wolf Creek Trail when the hiker lost his balance and fell into dense berry bushes along the creek bed. It was impossible to climb back up, according to the Grass Valley Fire Department, which responded to the scene along with firefighters from Nevada City.
Rescue workers were quickly mobilized, with firefighters working with several other agencies, creating “a rope system to get the hiker back to the trail.”
The hiker was slightly injured and taken to hospital for examination.
