A suspect is in custody Monday after multiple attacks on two lifeguard towers north of the Santa Monica Pier, according to Santa Monica police.

Police said the attacks on the three unrelated victims happened around 9:45 a.m. A bystander was injured after he tried to intervene while an elderly woman was being attacked, and a 17-year-old was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is a homeless man and not known to police, SMPD said. No weapons were used in the attacks.
