How did residents vote in the elections in Cheatham, Dickson, Robertson and Sumner counties?

The unofficial election results are in for Cheatham, Dickson, Robertson and Sumner counties, where a handful of local elections were held on August 1.

Thousands of people went to the polls to cast their votes early on Election Day.

In Cheatham County, there were 2,261 early voters, according to the Cheatham County Election Commission. Cheatham County has 28,680 registered voters and 3,850, or just over 13.4 percent, voted in this election.

In Robertson County, there were 1,269 early voters and 127 who voted by mail, according to the Robertson County Election Commission. Robertson County has 49,433 registered voters and 3,416, or just over 6.9 percent, voted in this election.

In Sumner County, 9,502 residents voted early and 467 voted by mail, according to the Sumner County Election Commission. Sumner County has 135,444 registered voters and 19,700, or just over 14.5 percent, voted in this election.

Cheatham

Mayor of the City of Ashland

  • Gerald Greer: 340

  • Kody Ridder: 26

  • JT Smith: 304

Gerald Greer defeated incumbent JT Smith and candidate Kody Knight in Thursday’s mayoral race in the Town of Ashland City. Greer received 340 votes, beating Smith by just 36 votes, according to the Cheatham County Election Commission.

Greer wants to manage Ashland City’s growth in a financially responsible manner and make the city safe for residents and businesses, he said.

“Ashland City is growing,” Greer said during his campaign.

“As your mayor, I will manage this growth in a financially responsible manner, always with our taxpayers in mind. My goal is to make Ashland City a safe and attractive home for current and future residents, young and old, and for our growing business community.”

City Ashland City 1st Ward

Incumbent Representative Michael W. Smith won by a vote of 369 to 244.

City Councillor Pegram

  • Christopher Crump: 120

  • Randy Fiedler: 27

  • Leah Louallen: 215

  • Miranda Montgomery: 275

  • Bob Sanders: 217

  • Hope Tinsley: 42

Miranda Montgomery and Bob Sanders won seats on the Town of Pegram Board of Mayor and Alderman on Thursday. Sanders won by just two votes over candidate Leah Louallen, who had 215 votes.

Dickson

School Board District 5

Independent Sherri Thiel won a seat on the school board over Republican challenger and incumbent Joe Underwood, securing the seat by more than 200 votes, according to the Dickson County Election Commission.

Robertson

School Board Zone 5

Incumbent candidate Stephen Ayres won a seat on the school board over Republican challenger John (Jay) Lawrence by a vote of 429 to 338, according to the Robertson County Election Commission.

Municipality of Greenbrier Alderman Ward 2

Incumbent Rep. Jeff DeLong won a majority of the vote Thursday and was re-elected as mayor and alderman of the City of Greenbrier.

Summer

School Board Member District 8

Republican Meghan Breinig defeated independent challenger Todd Stephens. Breinig won a seat on the school board by a vote of 1,099 to 614, according to the Sumner County Election Commission.

Incumbent Representative Ted Wise did not seek re-election.

School Board Member District 9

Republican Kathy Stuart defeated Democratic challenger Holly Cruz and Independent challenger Josh Graham for a seat on the school board. Stuart received 1,113 votes, compared to Cruz’s 704 and incumbent Graham’s 404.

Several other races were decided in the March primaries and were undecided in the general election.
