The National Weather Service said scattered snow showers in northern Arizona would produce less than an inch of snow in parts of Yavapai and Coconino counties on Saturday.
Highs on Saturday were expected to be limited to 40 degrees in Flagstaff, bringing a windy day with possible snowfall of less than an inch, according to the weather service.
Only the Kaibab Plateau near the north rim of the Grand Canyon and the highest mountain peaks in Arizona would see up to 4 inches of snow.
Later Saturday, a 20% chance of snow showers would be seen before 8 p.m., with clouds rolling out by Sunday, leaving a sunny but cold and windy end to the weekend in Flagstaff.
The weather system was expected to largely leave the state on Sunday, but would be confined to the eastern Mogollon Rim and the White Mountains, where less than an inch of snow was expected to fall, according to weather service meteorologists in Flagstaff.
“The less than ideal path and overall lack of atmospheric moisture mean only light snow accumulations and minimal winter weather impacts are expected,” a weather forecast discussion said.
