Is Twisters a sequel?
Technically yes. Twisters (2024) is set in the same tornado-riddled world as Twister (1996), but you don’t need to have seen the original to enjoy the standalone sequel. There’s some mention of the same technology from the first and second films, but otherwise there’s no real crossover here.
That said, the original Twister was one of the highest-grossing films of 1996, earning $495.7 million at the box office. It also received two Academy Award nods. So if you love the disaster movie genre, you should definitely check this one out.
