HANDY TWP. – Michigan State Police are currently investigating a suspected homicide at a residence on Sargent Road near Fowlerville.
Officers were dispatched to the home around 1 a.m. Friday after one of the residents called 911 and said he heard an argument between two roommates who lived in the basement. This is evident from a press release that MSP First District has placed on X.
When the resident went to check on the roommates, he found a 57-year-old man from Fowlerville lying on the floor with injuries. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, a 35-year-old Howell man, fled.
Troopers searched for the suspect using a K-9 with assistance from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 2:25 a.m., a Milett Road resident called 911 to report someone banging on their door. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody after determining he was the same suspect who fled the home on Sargent Road.
