EAST LANSING – Police said they discovered the remains of one person, and the possible remains of a second person, in a freezer in a home while investigating a “suspicious situation.”
Officers responded after a 911 caller reported seeing blood on the floor Thursday afternoon at a home in the 1500 block of Wintercrest Street, East Lansing police said in a five-paragraph news release Friday afternoon. The property management company let them in, she added.
“After a thorough search of the residence, ELPD officers located a deceased individual in a freezer,” police said in the news release. “Possible human remains of a second person of unknown gender were also found in the freezer.”

Evidence was collected with the help of Michigan State Police, and it was examined in “a crime laboratory,” officials said.
Police said no one had been arrested in connection with the investigation and did not believe there was any public threat.
