Hunter finds human skeletal remains in Rock County’s public hunting areas

State and local officials are investigating after human remains were discovered in Rock County.

A hunter reported finding the remains just after 9:30 a.m. Sunday on public hunting lands at 8622 N. Pine Road in Milton Township, Rock County Sheriff Curtis M. Fell said in a statement Wednesday.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the remains were human, but the identity of the person is unknown at this time.

The Rock County Sheriff Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate, but Fell said there is no immediate threat to the public.
