This weekend, a large portion of westbound Interstate 24 will be closed in downtown Nashville for planned maintenance.
The interstate forms the eastern loop around downtown, which goes over the Cumberland River and into East Nashville. The closure began at 8 p.m. Friday and is scheduled to be lifted at 5 a.m. Friday, the Tennessee Department of Transportation said. Traffic is being diverted to the western loop, which includes Interstate 40 and Interstate 65.
The full closure extends from the split of I-24 and I-40 south of downtown to the split of I-24 and I-65 north of downtown.
Travelers planning to travel to downtown or East Nashville this weekend should allow extra travel time or choose a route that avoids the closure.
