A Nampa man died Saturday morning after being struck by a car on Interstate 84, Idaho State Police said.

The 23-year-old man was walking across the westbound lanes of I-84 when he was struck by a westbound Nissan Altima just before 3 a.m. He died at the scene.

“The two left lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for approximately 4 hours,” according to a news release from the Idaho State Police. “This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.”

The victim’s name has not been released.

Last year, 236 pedestrians were involved in crashes, 31 of whom died, according to data from the Idaho Transportation Department. The 31 deaths were a 94% increase from 2022, when 16 pedestrians were killed in crashes.
