Igor Severino was suspended for nine months and fined $2,000 by NAC for UFC biting incident

The strange biting incident during the UFC fight from earlier this year has finally reached a resolution.

Igor Severino, who was disqualified and kicked out of the UFC after biting opponent Andre Lima in March, has been handed a nine-month suspension and fined $2,000 by the Nevada Athletic Commission. The NAC announced its decision on Tuesday during a monthly board meeting.

Severino’s suspension is retroactive to the date of the incident, meaning it will end on December 23.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has spoken out about the consequences this incident has had for him. Not only did he face disciplinary action from the NAC, but he was also fired from the UFC, faced a lot of criticism online and has had financial problems because he could no longer fight.

Severino was undefeated in his first and last fight in the UFC. The disqualification loss against Lima ranks as his only professional defeat. He joined the promotion after winning a contract for Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023.
