The number of jobless claims in Indiana fell last week compared to the previous week, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday.
The number of new applications for unemployment benefits, a proxy for layoffs, fell to 3,056 in the week ended Sept. 14, from 3,195 the week before, the Labor Department said.
U.S. jobless claims fell to 219,000 last week, down 12,000 from 231,000 claims the previous week, after seasonal adjustment.
Alaska saw the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with claims increasing 46.1%. Nebraska, meanwhile, saw the largest percentage decrease in new claims, with claims dropping 44.2%.
