A man has died after being struck and killed by a vehicle in downtown Indianapolis on Sunday.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the man was walking near West 10th and Illinois streets when he was struck around 3:20 a.m.
First responders took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. The driver will have blood drawn for a field sobriety test, which is a standard protocol when a car accident results in death or serious injury.

The accident marks the 39th pedestrian or cyclist killed by a driver in Indianapolis this year, according to Indy Pedestrian Safety Crisis, an advocacy group that tracks crashes.
The organization reported 47 deaths in 2023 and 45 deaths the year before.
Although pedestrian deaths have fallen slightly this year, the number of reported collisions has topped 800 for the first time in recent years. In 2024, the Indy Pedestrian Safety Crisis recorded a total of 831 incidents, after reporting 684 in 2023 – an increase of 21%.
